Our company history

2021

As of June 2021, Mr. Xuelin Zhang, newly appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors and representative of CTU’s sole shareholder, is in charge of the strategic and operational management of CTU. Ms. Jiayi Tang has been appointed as a new member to the Board of Directors.

2016

The operative management of CTU was taken over by Martin Schaub as CEO and member of the Board of Directors in October 2016. Chairman of the Board of Directors is now Xirang Chu of Shanghai Mechanical & Electrical Industry Co. Ltd.

2015

Shanghai Mechanical & Electrical Industry Co. Ltd. acquires 100% of the shares of the CTU Clean Technology Universe and thus strengthens CTU's promising field of environmental technologies in China.

2010

For a long-term future of the company and to ensure the continued expansion of activities, two private investors took over the environment and energy activities to form a  new share holder own limited company, the CTU Clean Technology Universe AG.

2004

CTU expands into the field of bioenergy production and signs a license agreement for world-wide sales and implementation of KOMPOGAS® plants for fermentation of bio-waste and biomass. At the same time a strategic cooperation is initiated with Pyroforce Energietechnologie AG for gasification of wood.

2002

As a Management Buy Out from German Babcock Borsig Group, the CTU - Conzepte Technik Umwelt AG is founded, which acquires employees and activities of the CT Umwelttechnik AG.

1999

In July, Babcock Borsig and VA Tech set up Babcock Borsig Power, a joint venture to which they contribute their activities in the power generation and waste management sector. As a subsidiary of AEE, CT Umwelttechnik is also a member of this group which becomes one of Europs largest suppliers of thermal plants and which also posses all established technologies in the areas of combustion, steam generation and flue gas cleaning.

1996

Austrian Energy (AEE), member of the VA Tech group, purchases all environmental activities from SULZER and establishes CT Umwelttechnik AG.

1980s

With increased significance of air pollution control SULZER® develops processes for flue gas cleaning.

SULZER® takes over the Swiss family enterprise Ghelfi as specialist in combustion of industrial and chemical wastes.

SULZER® develops new processes for treatment of r ashes recovered from flue gas cleaning. The several FLUPIL ash cleaning and solidification process are built in Switzerland and in France.

SULZER® builds numerous plants in the fields of hazardous waste combustion and flue gas cleaning which forms the basis for the technologies, business processes and personnel on which today's CTU is built up.

1960s

SULZER® begins its first activities dedicated to the environment and establishes the water and wastewater treatment department.
